New Moon in Aquarius
The first new moon of the new year is here, arriving today, at 3.52 PM EST, at 1 degree of Aquarius. The moon is trine Mars, which had just taken a step away from its retrograde, allowing us to take action for a fresh start.
One archetype associated with Aquarius is Prometheus, the supreme trickster and a god of fire. Prometheus's intellectual side was emphasized by the apparent meaning of his name, Forethinker. He had tricked Zeus, and stole fire from him to gift it to Earth, knowing how much humans needed fire for food and warmth. As the price of fire and as punishment for humankind, Zeus had him nailed to a mountain in the Caucasus and sent an eagle to eat his immortal liver, which constantly replenished itself.
As much as humanism, rebellion, communal values, and groups of people within the same ideology (11th house), Aquarius also rules eccentricity, doing the undone, and being what others are not quite ready to witness, allowing to be as authentic as possible. Undressing norms, traditions, and normality.
It is hard not to call Aquarius paradoxical as it rules communities but also individuality.
In my eyes, the Aquarian archetype is a teen with a band shirt on— at the beginning of individualism, trying to unwind as a new person. Family, roots, and whatever they have been before their teen years don't matter much anymore: finding a "like-minded" friend group is significant. Remember how vulnerable it was?
With this full moon, which is sextile with sweet Jupiter, we know where we want to move forward more clearly and are able to expand our ideas. Still, Aquarius's paradox encourages you to break out of the mold, do it differently, try something fresh, and be uncommon: that’s the only way to build a tribe of your own.
