Ipek Durmaz
Hi, I’m Ipek. I’m an archetypal astrologer and the founder of Ouroboros Community.
My interest in analytical psychology and Buddhist philosophy led me to astrology studies for the first time in 2018. After taking classical astrology classes (with Duygu Demir and Eda Ocak) in Turkey, I explored Archetypal Astrology and earned my certification from Pacifica Graduate Institute, where I had the privilege of studying under some of the best astrologers alive, like Laurence Hillman.
A lifelong student and a teacher (can you tell I have 7 planets in Sagittarius?), I continue to deepen my practice through evolutionary astrology studies with Forrest Center of Evolutionary Astrology, and am an active member of the International Society of Astrological Research (ISAR). In addition to my Archetypal Astrology Certification, I also passed ISAR competence exam, and got qualified for internationally recognized astrological excellence.
I hold a master’s degree in Applied Media Psychology, where I did my capstone on Self-Determination Theory and took these three principles into my pocket: autonomy, competence, and relatedness. These words continue to inspire my readings, as do Buddhist teachings and analytical psychology.
My passion is not horoscopes. I love teaching my clients and students how to engage with astrology in ways that are mindful, autonomous, and curious, rather than dependent and rigid.
The Threshold: Astrology Membership
A monthly subscription. The name "Threshold" is inspired by Joseph Campbell’s monomyth, the Hero’s Journey. ‘Crossing the threshold’ is the moment in myths, when the hero moves beyond the familiar and step into risk, but also growth and transformation. Come join the threshold with us.
Your membership includes access to our Slack community, quarterly readings from me, and monthly gatherings at wine bars where we’ll come together to discuss the transits and have mini astrology lectures.
1:1 Astrology Readings
My 1 - 1.5 hour signature readings focus on your natal birth chart, along with the major transits currently influencing it. Much of the reading itself happens before we meet, as I study recurring themes across your transits, solar arc, and progressed chart to prepare for our session. Our time together is an opportunity to discuss these and connect the patterns I’ve uncovered into your life. You’ll receive a recording of your session, along with the opportunity for a follow-up if questions arise afterward
Events & Workshops
I offer monthly workshops and events in NYC, including a monthly birth chart reading practicum, mini-readings in yoga studios or parties.
