Ipek Durmaz
Originally from Turkey, Ipek is a Brooklyn-based astrologer, writer, and, most recently, yoga instructor.
Her interest in analytical psychology and Buddhist philosophy led her to explore astrology for the first time in 2018. After taking traditional astrology classes with Duygu Demir and Eda Ocak in Turkey, she explored archetypal astrology and earned her certification from Pacifica Graduate Institute, where she had the privilege of studying with some of her favorite astrologers and analysts.
She founded her brand, Ouroboros Community, and began seeing clients in 2021. Since 2023, she has been teaching monthly in-person “Birth Chart Reading Practicums” in Brooklyn. More recently, she launched “The Threshold,” an in-person community membership.
She holds a master’s degree in Applied Media Psychology, where she completed her capstone project on Self-Determination Theory and took three principles to heart: autonomy, competence, and relatedness. These principles continue to inspire her readings, as do Buddhist teachings and analytical psychology.
Her passion is not horoscopes. Rather, she loves teaching her clients and students how to engage with astrology in ways that are mindful, autonomous, and curious, rather than dependent and rigid.

Your membership includes access to our Slack community, quarterly readings from me, and monthly gatherings at wine bars where we’ll come together to discuss the transits and have mini astrology lectures.
1:1 Astrology Readings
My 1 - 1.5 hour signature readings focus on your natal birth chart, along with the major transits currently influencing it. Much of the reading itself happens before we meet, as I study recurring themes across your transits, solar arc, and progressed chart to prepare for our session. Our time together is an opportunity to discuss these and connect the patterns I’ve uncovered into your life. You’ll receive a recording of your session, along with the opportunity for a follow-up if questions arise afterward.

I offer monthly workshops and events in NYC, including a monthly birth chart reading practicum, mini-readings in yoga studios or parties.
